The Heritage Les Paul headstock repair
This The Heritage Gold Top Les Paul belongs to a friend of mine who has played the crap out of it in the last thirty years or so.
The headstock broke off for the fourth(!) time... He had it repaired by a professional the first time and the second and third time he glued it back himself. But now it broke off again. And he asked me to help him out. |
There were too many old repairs and glue residues. Plus there was wood missing here and there. It would never allow for a reliable joint without serious surgery.
So I decided to glue in whole new pieces of wood to ensure a secure and steady joint. I'll show the process of the entire repair in the pics below... |
THE RESULT
AFTER THE REPAIR
Per request of the owner I didn't make the repair completely invisible. The guitar has so much mojo it would be a bit weird to have a shiny new headstock. But it plays as good as new ;-)
