Build process
The design
A Flying V bass is a bit of a problem. If you make it 34" scale the neck tends to set extremely far to the left. Making it an absurd long instrument. In this case of the 12-string bass, I chose to make it short scale 30 1/2" scale. This would keep the total length very reasonable. And it would make the 12-string bass very easy to play.
I did modify the V shape a little bit, making the "armpit" less deep as the Gibson original.
Initially I borrowed that shape from the Thundervee I also built. But did not have faith in the strength of the tailpiece with the string through body ferrules. So I kept the original ETS tailpiece.
